Dr. Cochran completed her clinical training in 1984. She was a staff psychologist at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital for three years before beginning a private practice. She also was on the staff at the Center for Mental Health. She is licensed in Virginia and the District of Columbia.
Her current faculty positions include being a Clinical Supervisor with the George Washington University Doctor of Psychology Program. She is also a Teaching Analyst with the Baltimore/Washington Institute for Psychoanalysis.
Prior to going into clinical work, Dr. Cochran was a faculty member at SUNY at Stony Brook and at the College of Human Medicine at Michigan State University. She has authored or coauthored three publications in that field and presented several papers at conferences.
After graduate school, Dr. Cochran received five additional years of education to become a Psychoanalyst and is Certified in Psychoanalysis
