I am Dr. Teresa Cochran, a Licensed Psychologist and Certified Psychoanalyst offering individual therapy for adults (ages 17 up).

My office is in Old Town Alexandria VA where I have been practicing since 1988. On this website you will find information about me and my services. I offer consultation and treatment for emotional issues such as anxiety and panic, depression, as well as relationship and life transition problems. In addition, I have experience with people who have creativity blocks and those who or are not living up to their potential.

I have over 20 years experience as a psychotherapist and am licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia and the District of Columbia. I supervise graduate students in the George Washington University’s Doctor of Psychology program. In addition, I am a Teaching Analyst at the Baltimore-Washington Center for Psychoanalysis. Like many therapists, I had a career prior to getting clinical training. I was a faculty member at SUNY Stony Brook’s Health Sciences Center and at College of Human Medicine of Michigan State University.

My interests outside of the office include the New Directions Writing Program and serve on the Board of Directors of the Northern Virginia Resources Center for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Persons.
